Baschool is an abandoned mining town in the northern area of Amestris, east of Fort Briggs. It is also the entrance to the winding maze of mining caverns.

Central is the seat of government in Amestris. The National Central Library, Central Command, and the National Laboratories are all located in Central. Aside from its symbol as a military headquarters, Central is also a bustling metropolis and arguably Amestris' largest city, complete with nearly everything Amestrian society has to offer as well as a lasting and rarely disturbed sense of peace imposed by the proximity of the government's imposing presence.

East City is a city in the eastern region of Amestris, which serves as the military command base for the area.

Dublith is the town where Izumi Curtis lives and works. It is located in the southern region of Amestris and like most of the south, boasts relatively high temperatures. According to Izumi, Dublith's main tourist attraction is Kauroy Lake, in the middle of which is Yock Island.

Ishval is a region of Southeastern Amestris on the border of the Eastern Desert. The area has been described as a rather harsh land made of little more than rocks and sand, which accounts for the strict moral code promoted by its inhabitants. It is suggested that Ishvalans were previously spread out over a wider area, but that the smaller region of Ishval was created by the government to pen them in after conflicts between the Central Government and Ishvalan people began to arise.

Kanama is a small slum on the outskirts of Central City.

Lior is located in the middle of a desert, making it only of moderate importance and minor economic strength.

A city founded and governed by Professor Wilhelm Eiselstein, a member of the Ten Alchemists, when Hiessgart was overrun by chimeras. The city is relatively new and lies somewhere between Resembool and Central.

New Optain is a city in the eastern region of Amestris, located north of East City. Though not shown, it is implied that New Optain is more closely connected to Central Command and may be less of a "boondock" town than East City is.

Resembool is a rural town in the southeastern region of Amestris. Though small and relatively isolated, Resembool is well known in the region as a sheep-farming town and chiefly exports wool to be used in the manufacture of military uniforms.

Riviere was a small country (or perhaps a city-state) which, over three hundred years ago in July of 1558, was attacked by the earliest settlers of the country that would come to be known as Amestris without a declaration of war. Now, Riviere is a city in the northwest region of Amestris, still stained with the crest of blood carved into it so many centuries ago.

Rush Valley is a city in southern Amestris, just north of Dublith. Due to its rapid growth in recent years as the center of Automail production, it is commonly known as "The Boomtown of the Broken-Down". The multitude of automail engineers in Rush Valley cheerfully celebrate their craft and walk the streets in droves, holding automail-related competitions and pushing their wares on unsuspecting passersby. As a result, it becomes a bit of a hassle to walk through the city with automail, as the vendors will go to great lengths to either sell upgrades or closely scrutinize whatever appendages happen to be prosthetic.

Xenotime is a town in the desert that is famous for its goldsmiths. It used to be that Xenotime was a lush, green, town. Now, since the townspeople discovered a gold vein, they started digging which reduced the topsoil and since then, it's been a town in the desert.
